Introduction
👋 Welcome to the ProxLink Project Documentation!
What is ProxLink?
ProxLink is a group project by Dhanraj Chavan and Aditi Indre: an exploration into building a versatile home lab using open-source and self-hosted technologies like Proxmox, OPNsense, NetBird, Technitium DNS, and Splunk. It lets us test cybersecurity concepts, virtualized environments, networking strategies, and software integrations securely and conveniently at home.

Features
Powerful Virtualization – ProxLink leverages Proxmox VE’s intuitive web interface to efficiently manage virtual machines and containers, ensuring flexibility and scalability.
Robust Network Security – OPNsense provides the firewall and router for the lab, segmenting the WAN, LAN, and DMZ and filtering all traffic between them.
Seamless Remote Access – NetBird provides a WireGuard-based overlay network with centralized access policies, giving secure remote access to the lab with minimal setup.
Self-Hosted DNS – Technitium DNS Server resolves internal lab hostnames, blocks ads and malicious domains network-wide, and forwards external queries over encrypted protocols.
Centralized Logging & Detection – Splunk ingests logs from the firewall, DNS server, VPN, and hosts, making it possible to search, correlate, and alert on activity across the lab.
Extensible and Customizable – ProxLink offers extensibility through scripting, automation, thorough documentation, and powerful integrations, allowing flexible customization.
Optimized for Learning and Growth – The project is structured to provide a practical, accessible learning environment suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced IT professionals.
